David Stout Larimer

The death of Deputy David Stout Larimer, a popular figure in the Los Angeles Co. Sheriff’s Department, shocked the entire department.

Larimer was killed instantly when he was struck by a car while escorting an elderly woman across busy Colorado Street.  The deputy was thrown approximately 21 feet by the impact.  Mrs. John Girvan escaped injury.  Larimer’s partner, Deputy B.E. Davis had remained in the patrol car and witnessed the incident.  The driver of the car involved, Frank Usrey, was charged with drunk driving and negligent homicide.  A friend of Usrey’s who was following in another vehicle was booked on a drunk charge and interfering with an officer.
